This discount is exclusively for households who are registered under the same account, with one person responsible for payment.  The second student and all subsequent students receive a 10% discount.  This does not apply to adult fitness, promotional pricing, or gymnastics classes.

Tuition & Payment Policy

Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable. The parent or legal guardian agrees to pay tuition in full on a monthly basis and maintain the student's account in good financial standing with Motor City Dance Factory.

Tuition is based on the full dance season, not the number of classes in a given month. Your annual tuition is divided into equal monthly payments for your convenience. Because some months include more class meetings than others, monthly tuition remains the same regardless of the number of classes scheduled in any particular month.

All families are required to enroll in our Auto Pay program. Monthly tuition is processed on the 1st of each month using the payment method on file. If you do not wish to use the card on file, payment must be made through the Parent Portal or by cash or check at the studio before the 1st of the month.

A $20 Failed Processing/Late Fee will be assessed for any account with an unpaid balance. We understand that unexpected situations arise, so families have a grace period through the 6th of the month to submit payment manually online, by phone, or in person before the fee is applied. The $20 fee will automatically be added on the 7th day of the month and cannot be removed once assessed.

It is the parent or guardian's responsibility to keep the payment method on file current and valid. Failure to update payment information does not excuse missed payments or late fees.

Students will remain enrolled and tuition charges will continue until an official withdrawal is submitted and processed according to Motor City Dance Factory's withdrawal policy. Simply discontinuing attendance does not cancel enrollment or financial responsibility.

Please Note: The $20 Failed Processing/Late Fee is assessed per student with a past-due balance.

Auto Pay Terms and Conditions

All families who do not pay tuition in full at the beginning of the season are required to participate in Motor City Dance Factory's Auto Pay program.  A valid credit card must be on file to register for classes. Please review Auto Pay Terms and Conditions below:

I understand and agree that any changes to my payment information, including updates to the credit card or bank account on file, must be submitted to Motor City Dance Factory prior to my next scheduled payment date. It is my responsibility to keep my payment information current to avoid declined transactions and late fees.

Monthly tuition is processed on the 1st of each month. If the payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, I understand that payment may be processed on the next business day. Tuition charges for the upcoming month will be posted to my account by the 25th of the previous month, allowing time to review my account and submit payment before Auto Pay is processed.

If I do not wish to have the payment method on file charged, I understand that it is my responsibility to submit payment through the Parent Portal or by cash or check at the studio before the 1st of the month.

I understand that sufficient funds or available credit must be available on the scheduled processing date. If an Auto Pay transaction is declined due to insufficient funds, expired payment information, a bank error, or any other processing issue, I understand that I have through the 6th of the month to resolve the balance. Any unpaid balance remaining on the 7th day of the month will automatically incur a $20 Failed Processing/Late Fee per student. Once assessed, this fee will not be removed. Motor City Dance Factory reserves the right to reprocess declined payments within thirty (30) days.

By registering online or in person, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to abide by all Motor City Dance Factory policies and procedures.

Check Payment Policy

Motor City Dance Factory no longer accepts personal checks for monthly tuition payments.

Personal checks are accepted for the following payments only:

  • Full season tuition (paid in full)

  • Costume fees (before the October due date)

  • Camp fees (before the published due date)

  • MCDF Competition Team fees (before the published due date)

A $35 returned check fee will be assessed for any check returned by the bank. After a returned check, Motor City Dance Factory reserves the right to no longer accept personal checks for that account. Future payments must be made by credit card, ACH, cash, or other approved payment methods.

Withdrawal from Classes

Motor City Dance Factory requires a one-month minimum enrollment for all classes.

To withdraw from a class and stop future tuition charges, the parent or legal guardian must submit the request in writing by email to motorcitydancefactorydsp@gmail.com no later than the 20th of the month preceding the month of withdrawal.

Email is the only accepted method of withdrawal. Verbal requests made in person or by phone, voicemail messages, text messages, or messages sent through social media will not serve as official notice. If you call the studio to discuss your withdrawal, you must still submit an email for your request to be processed.

Example: If your withdrawal email is received between October 21 and October 31, your dancer will remain enrolled and may attend classes throughout November. Tuition for November will still be due, and the student will be withdrawn effective December 1.

Students who stop attending class without submitting an official withdrawal email will remain enrolled, and tuition will continue to be charged until written notice is received and processed.

If a student's account becomes 60 days past due, the student may not participate in classes until the account is brought current or satisfactory payment arrangements have been made. However, the student will not be automatically removed from the class roster, and tuition charges will continue until the withdrawal process described above is completed.

Membership fees, costume fees, and tuition are non-refundable. If a family chooses to withdraw before the end of the season, previously paid membership fees, costume fees, and tuition will not be refunded.

Dance Class Change Fee

Teachers select costumes early in the season and we begin preparation for our spring shows as soon as the season begins.  We know that during the first few weeks we are still working on leveling our classes and finding the right fit for our dancers.  If a student needs to change a class day and time after October 31st, a class change fee of $10 will be charged.  This fee is waived for our Premium and Elite Members.  Classes may not be changed once recital costumes have been ordered.

Costume Fees

Costume fees will be added to your Parent Portal account in early October and are due in full by November 14.

To help offset costume expenses, Motor City Dance Factory offers two optional fundraising opportunities each season. Participation is encouraged, and proceeds help reduce costume costs while supporting the studio.

Students will be measured for costumes during the month of November. Costume orders are placed between November and January, depending on costume availability and manufacturer deadlines.

Costumes are typically distributed in late March or early April, although delivery dates may vary based on vendor production and shipping schedules.

Please Note: Costumes will not be released to families with outstanding balances. All tuition, costume fees, and other past-due charges must be paid in full before costumes can be distributed.

Student / Parent Policies

Attendance

Regular attendance is vital to student progress and group choreography. Please make every effort to attend each class.  Dance is a seasonal commitment, and students are enrolling in class to participate through the end of the season (May 2027) as well as perform in the final production performance.  Monthly tuition remains constant whether a student is present or not.  If a student is more than 10 minutes late to class and has missed the warm-up, for his/her safety they may be asked to observe to avoid injury.

Observation

Space is available for parents to view classes on our monitors in the two parent lobbies. Parents may also sit in our Motor City Cafe.  We would like our guests to remember that MCDF is a child friendly environment.  Conversation, clothing, and overall behavior should be appropriate at all times in and around the building.  Parents may not sit in dance studios or gyms during classes unless requested by an instructor.

Communication

It is the parent’s responsibility to read emails and stay informed. We send emails and text messages regularly.

Dress Code

Uniforms are required, but vary for different classes. Please see the studio dress code for your dancer’s specific class(es). Students should always be in uniform and have their hair pulled securely away from their face. Beads and barrettes must be tied up, and students should not wear jewelry to class.  If a dancer is not in dress code after multiple warnings, the student will have to sit or will be required to purchase a uniform from our front desk.

Rescheduling and Substitution

MCDF reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regular teacher is ill or is otherwise unable to teach. MCDF reserves the right to combine or reschedule classes.

Class Placements

  • Class placements are at the discretion of our teaching staff and are derived from many years of teaching experience.

  • Children are placed in a class where they will be confident, promote the development of self-esteem and continue to be challenged.

  • Students or parents should not challenge the instructors or director on the placement of a dancer; please trust our professionals to do what is best  for your student.

Discipline

  • Our staff is trained to use constructive techniques of discipline, encouraging students to have respect for other students, teachers, staff and studio property.

  • Should disruptive behavior occur and continue a child may be removed from class and a parent or guardian will be notified.

  • In extreme circumstances it may be necessary for the director to terminate a student’s enrollment.

Lost and Found

There is a Lost and Found located in the studio dressing room. Please check the Lost and Found basket regularly as all lost and found items will be donated to local charities every 60 days. MCDF is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced items. Please label everything and remind your dancer not to leave anything behind! Leave valuables and large amounts of cash at home.

Showcase and Recital - Ticketed Events

  • We end our gymnastics season with our Spring Showcase during the last week of April / first week in May* (depending on the academic calendar of U of D Mercy)

  • A gymnastics showcase uniform is required for participation

  • We end our dance season with our year end performance. Our dance production dates are May 22nd and May 23rd.

  • You will receive a link to a dance production webpage that will keep you up to date on everything you need to know.

  • Please look at the show your dancer(s) are participating in when selecting classes (especially for siblings).  Some conflicts are unavoidable, but be mindful when scheduling.

  • There is a production fee applied to each dancer's account in the spring.  The packet they receive includes the show gift box with the show t-shirt, a souvenir program book, pin, and links to all of the recital videos.

  • Recital rehearsals are mandatory.  Our priority is to prepare your children for the performance experience of a lifetime!
